The basketry training cours is a delight for the mind which yearns to rest : the concentration, the workshop brightness, the exclusive manual work, the craftsman pace will allow you to disconnect immediately.
The workshop that we propose is entirely devoted to the doum palm leaves braiding. The leaves are cut into thin strips and twisted to creat a kind of rope called "chrit. Braided on wrought iron structures, in nowadays this material is very fashionable because it offers many possible uses.
Mohamed will offer you his help and his knowledge to weave chrit and you wil also discover in the same time his universe, his techniques,through the pace of workshop.
The practical works get organized around the production of two small plates, rectangular and round, made of palm leaves basic.
The program of your basketry training course includes:
- about 3 hours of practice to achieve 2 objects which you can take with you;
- a tea-break in company with Mohamed, craftsman basket maker,
- the many fascinating explanations about the different used raw materials and the baskery artcraft.
The following services are included in your basketry training course :
- the presence of an experimented professional during the whole workshop, the necessary tools and raw materials for your practical work,
- the presence of a guide in charge of the translation,and ensure the good progress of the workshop and assist you in a general way.
Options :
- extra rate for the 1 person workshops: 200 dhs or 18 euros;
- supplement for transport from our meeting point (medina or guéliz) : 150dhs/14e (1pers) ; 120dhs/11e (2pers) ; 90dhs/8e (3pers or +), round-trip per personn.
